Energy Transition. Not in theory, but on the ground

Earlier this week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Flemish Minister Annick De Ridder to our Advario Gas Terminal in Antwerp. Hosted by Nancy De Groof, Vice President Cluster Belgium and Chair of BATO, together with Bart Seliaerts and Philippe Geeraerts, the visit focused on one thing: real progress in action.

At Advario, the energy transition is not something we just talk about. We are making it happen. In Belgium, that work is driven by our teams at Advario Gas Terminal and Advario Stolthaven Antwerp, both fully committed to developing infrastructure that supports a decarbonized future.

One project that stood out during the visit is our planned ammonia import terminal. Developed in partnership with Fluxys and located at Advario Gas Terminal, it is scheduled to be operational by 2030. This facility will play a key role in enabling the hydrogen economy and supporting the transition to future-fit molecules.

Nancy De Groof also highlighted the strategic importance of tank storage in this journey. As the sector that ensures flexibility, stability and security of supply, storage is an essential enabler in the shift to a more sustainable energy system.

We thank Minister De Ridder for her visit and valuable dialogue, the informed questions, and engagement with our teams. The Minister showed a clear interest in the challenges and opportunities ahead. Her involvement highlighted the importance of active collaboration between policymakers and industry in accelerating the energy transition.
